Masterpieces of the Month for November

This month's Masterpieces of the month are Brooke Howry, 4th grader, and Aaliyah Garcia, 6th grader. Brooke created a Colonial Period self-portrait, and Aaliyah created a Latin American "bark" painting.

Masterpieces of the Month for Oct. 2015

This month we had 2 outstanding artworks to showcase on our classroom bulletin board. The first piece is by 6th grader Jacob Ogg. Jacob created a one-point perspective drawing of his ideal bedroom.








Next up, we had Jericha Hayes, a kindergarten student, create a "Snowy Day" collage using crayon resist.

2015 Gourd Festival

Many students from Central attended the Gourd Festival this past Saturday!  Although it was very rainy and wet for a while, grown-ups and kids alike had a really fun and exciting day, as you can see from the photos!

Jungle movements

Kindergarten drama class involved watching a rainforest video, creating a brainstorm list of things they saw in the jungle, and then creating a character with movements based on their jungle list.

Dynamics!!

This week the students are studying dynamics (the loud and soft sounds) of music. Forte' means loud, and piano means soft. Here you can see the hands-on activities students performed while learning about dynamics.

Lines 2015

This week my students are learning all about lines in art - straight, curvy, and zigzag. They are also learning about the directions all lines can travel - vertical, horizontal, and diagonal. Here is just a sampling of the activities the kids are participating in this week:  line leaves, leaf drawings, paper line collages, line contrast collages, cutting edge portaits, line initials, and comic book lines.
