This week we have been continuing our unit on the Appalachian unit by creating special Appalachian-style artworks. Students in 2nd grade designed a 2D drawing of a chair they created, and then designed that chair in 3D using various materials.

1st graders designed quilt blocks using fabric scraps.
Kindergartners created paper dolls.
4th graders designed rush weavings using popsicle sticks and yarn.
This week students are creating art that was popular during the Colonial Period of our nation's history. Shown below is 2nd grade creating decorative Hex Signs.
This week students learned all about Native American Indian art through creating their own projects based on the Native styles. They designed everything from bowls, medicine man pouches, and petroglyph writings to ceremonial vests, crayon-resist symbols, and jute basket-weavings.
