Well, our first full week of school is underway, and we have now reached "Hump Day!" Hopefully, all the kiddoes (old and new) will get over the hump quite nicely. This first week, we are learning all about lines (or as one of my new little kindergartners said "LIONS!! I love lions!!). Hey, that was close, right??!! Anywho, we talked all about the 3 types of lines (straight, curvy, and zigzag), as well as the 3 line directions (horizontal, vertical, and diagonal). We looked at artwork and found each type of line. And then we use our new-found knowledge to create artwork containing all 3 types of lines. Here are some of my students hard at work.

This week students are acting out traditional Appalachian dramas based on folktales passed down from one generation to the next.
This week students began studying the Appalachian culture. We began our unit with listening to Appalachian music and playing traditional instruments.
