This month's Masterpieces of the Month were Tanner Smith and Amberly Valero. Their artwork demonstrates originality/creativity, is neat, and adheres to our topic of 'lines.' Each designed and created a piece using a math instrument - a protractor. Congrats Tanner and Amberly!!

Dynamics
This week we studied dynamics in music. Students did various activities to demonstrate their knowledge of piano (soft) and forte' (loud) - the volume of music - everything from playing miniature cymbals to dancing the salsa.

A Week of Lines
This week every student at Central worked hard on completing a project based on the three types of lines - straight, curvy, and zigzag - as well as the 3 line directions (horizontal, vertical, and diagonal).

FIRST WEEK BACK!!!
Well, it is our first full week back in school. This week we are studying drama - characters and makeup. Students are watching movie clips from some of their favorite cartoon movies and then designing the makeup for their favorite cartoon character.

Appalachian Music!
This week we are studying Appalachian music. Students are enjoying listening to Traditional Appalachian musical performances, learning about the various folk instruments, and then playing them.

African Art!
This week kindergarten through 5th grades have been working hard on African art projects. Especially exciting to see are 2nd grades' folk art face vessels. Here is Wyatt making an awesome looking face on his clay vessel!!
